Cancellations

Last Updated Tuesday, September 13, 2011 6:56 am

This rule applies to ladder matches only.

In order to cancel a match, both opponents must post their acceptance of the cancellation in matchcoms. This will result in the complete removal of a match; no win, loss, or forfeit is recorded.

A match can not be canceled once it has begun or after a no-show report has been submitted.

League and Tournament matches can not be cancelled.

(See ?Change Agreements")

Change Agreements

Last Updated Saturday, September 10, 2011 4:19 am

To allow for flexibility, certain rules can be changed so long as both opponents agree to the change prior to the match.

Any such rule change applies equally to both opponents throughout the entire match.

All change agreements must be recorded in matchcoms prior to the match for the purposes of resolving potential disputes that may arise from any such agreement.

The list below shows these rules by type of competition.

Cheating

Last Updated Friday, January 30, 2009 7:24 pm

Any attempt to gain an unfair advantage is cheating. This includes: modifying game files, running memory resident cheats, utilizing exploits/glitches, or anything else beyond the normal scope of the game.

Anyone caught cheating in a GWL match may be suspended or banned from all competition.

Contact an admin if you have any doubts, questions, or concerns about something that could possibly be considered a bug, exploit, or cheat.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your computer system is free from cheats prior to playing any online game.

We do not conduct investigations into alleged cheating violations unless credible evidence is presented.

Code of Conduct

Last Updated Friday, January 30, 2009 5:40 am

Sportsmanship

All players competing on this site are required to conduct themselves with the highest standards of sportsmanship. Members are encouraged to work together and attempt to settle disagreements without admin intervention.

Fair play
Winning is without true value if it was achieved unfairly or dishonestly. Cheating is easy, but it will bring you no pleasure. Playing fair requires personal courage and strong character. Fair play is rewarding even when the match is lost. It earns you respect, while cheating and cheaters are detested by all.

Coordination

Last Updated Friday, January 30, 2009 10:45 pm

(See "Change Agreements")
(See "Disputes")
(See "Reporting")

Disputes

Last Updated Friday, January 30, 2009 5:51 am

Disputes must be filed no later than 12 hours after the match is completed. (Intent to file a dispute must be posted in matchcoms no later than 1 hour after the match.) Disputes must be filed before the match is reported; once the match has been reported, the result will not be changed. Players must use matchcoms to file a dispute. Do not post any match disputes publicly. A dispute should contain as much information as possible and should include any supporting evidence. Accusations without evidence will be thrown out. Investigations may take up to 96 hours to complete. All Globalwarfighter decisions are final.

Reporting

Last Updated Friday, January 30, 2009 5:52 am

Loss Reports
Loss reports must be submitted by the losing party no later than 1 hour after the match has been completed.

In the event of a dispute, the disputing party must file their intent before the 1 hour deadline. (See Disputes)

If the losing team/player does not report within the 1 hour deadline, an admin will report the loss. An admin reported loss is considered a penalty; the losing party will not be awarded skill points and will be given a 48 hour lock from challenging.

Forfeits
Teams/players must forfeit if they cannot meet all match requirements prior to the match. Team/players can not forfeit once a match has started.

An Automatic Forfeit occurs when the defender fails to respond to (accept) a challenge prior to the ladder Response Time setting.

No-Shows
A no-show occurs when an opponent fails to meet at the agreed upon link up point within 10 minutes of the scheduled match time. A no-show must be reported in matchcoms no later than 30 minutes after the initial match time, but no earlier than 10 minutes after.

Once a no-show report has been submitted, the accused will have 20 minutes to counter with a reply in matchcoms. If the accused fails to counter within this time limit, the match will be marked as a no-show and an admin will report the loss.

Team Rosters

Last Updated Wednesday, December 14, 2011 1:55 am

Team Member Listing (Open Roster)
The team member listing, also know has the open roster, is used to view all of the members of a team. When a player joins a team, he or she is automatically added to this listing. Players may join as many open rosters as they like, but they are not allowed to be on more than one competition roster for the same competition.

Competition Rosters
Each competition a team joins will have an individual roster. These rosters are called competition rosters. Members who are on a competition roster are considered the primary competitors for that competition, and will receive skill points whenever their team competes in that competition. The number of members who can join a competition roster is determined by the size of the competition. Normally, the minimum would be one less, and the maximum one half larger than (or 1.5) the competition size rounded up. (Example: 5v5 has a Minimum of 4 [1 less] and a Maximum of 8 [2.5 rounded up to 3])
(See "Eligibility")

- Authorized Game Versions and Modifications -

Last Updated Saturday, March 3, 2012 1:58 am

Matches will be played on the latest official release of Combat Arms. The game updates itself when started with no option to update manually. Any official updates are automatically approved for competition.

Modification to the game client is not allowed. This includes any change of player skins or 3rd party software that changes the game client in any way. Players caught violating this rule will forfeit their match (their team's match) and may be subject to further action against their Global Warfighter account.

Additionally, use of the GWL Combat Arms Anti-Cheat Tool is mandatory for competition. Players are required to use the latest version of the program; you will be notified upon launch if an update is required. The Anti-Cheat Tool download/instruction can be found here.

Combat Arms Clans

Last Updated Tuesday, January 24, 2012 2:00 am

Having a clan in Combat Arms is not a requirement for competing as a clan or team here at GWL. Matches may not be played on the “Clan” server even if both teams have Combat Arms clans.

Demo Recording

Last Updated Tuesday, January 24, 2012 2:00 am

Instead of Demos Recording, players are required to use the GWL Combat Arms Anti-Cheat Tool (see: “Anti Cheat”). However, this tool will not detect infractions such as illegal weapons, glitching, etc. Players are encouraged to record some or all of the match if they spot these forms of cheating.

GUID Requirements

Last Updated Tuesday, January 24, 2012 2:01 am

GUID is an abbreviation for "Genuine Unique Identification" or "Game User Identification." GlobalWarfighter uses them to verify that players on the site are the same players in the game. Any player that does not have a valid GUID will be ineligible for competition.

A valid GUID exactly matches the name that is used ingame while playing. If you purchase a name change, you must update your GUID on the site. Please note that GUID changes are time stamped.

Players can add/change their GUID by going to their profile, then clicking “Manage GUIDs.”

In addition, all players must confirm that their GUID is CBL Clean. This is a quick, simple process. Go to the CBL Website and then to the search page. Type in your GUID and search it. If no reports show up, then you are CBL Clean. A player who has stat flags but no reports is considered to be clean. Players who are not CBL Clean are not permitted to participate in GWL matches.

Player Verification

Last Updated Wednesday, January 25, 2012 5:15 pm

At no time may an ineligible player participate in match play. All players in the match must be verified before round start, and any issues regarding player eligibility must be settled immediately, before round start. (See: "Player Eligibility”)

Prior to signifying that a team is ready to start the match, each team captain must check the opposing team's GUID roster to verify player eligibility. All ineligible players must be removed from the server before the match may begin.

Substitute players must be announced and verified between rounds; the next round cannot start until substitutes have been verified. In order to help speed up the process it’s a good idea for team captains to print a list of eligible players and their GUID prior to the match.

Prematch Coordination and Requirements

Last Updated Thursday, January 26, 2012 5:23 pm

Players/Teams must confirm server information in matchcoms 24 hours prior to the designated match time. Region, server, channel, name, and password must be provided.

The “defender” (in ladders) or the “home team” (in Leagues) will supply the Server Master. The Server Master may not have Elite Moderator or Super Elite Moderator activated.

The match server must be ready to accept players from both teams 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Players are asked to show up at least 5 minutes prior to match time so team captains can settle match details and check GUID's for player eligibility. (See: “Player Verification”)

All players for both teams must be in the designated server within 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. The match will commence no later than 10 minutes past start time.

If a team has no players in the designated server within the allotted time frame, that team will receive a no-show loss for the match.

A team with enough players to meet the minimum roster size, but not enough to achieve the actual competition size will have the option to either forfeit or play the match with less players than the opposing team. The opponents are not required to drop a player to make the match even.

Screenshots

Last Updated Wednesday, January 25, 2012 5:16 pm

Screenshots are required to be taken by team captains (or acting captain for that match).

Screenshots can be done in Combat Arms by simply hitting the <Print Scrn> button. The screenshots will show up as .jpg files in your Combat Arms root folder (Usually: c: Program Files | Combat Arms and show up as filename "Combat-Arms_01" incrimentally).

Screenshots are required by each team captain (or representative), confirming "ready" status for all players in the match and screenshots of the score sheet at the end of each round. If any changes regarding player eligibility, weapons permitted, etc. are negotiated at match time, both teams must take a screenshot of the agreement.

x - Match and Server Miscellanea - x

Last Updated Wednesday, January 25, 2012 5:20 pm

In game chat
The ingame chat is reserved for team captains only. Players are not allowed to get involved into conversation. Team captains are expected to control their team to allow the match to progress in an organized format with any issues or coordination problems being handled solely by the team rep/captain designated for the match.

Servers Down
At times, Combat Arms servers may come down for maintenance. Because all Combat Arms servers are run by Nexon, there may be times when a GWL match is scheduled but Nexon servers are down. If such a case does occur, teams will have to post in matchcoms immediately that servers are down and negotiate a new match time

Map/Rounds

Last Updated Monday, January 4, 2010 1:26 am

There will be one random map for the match, generated by the GWL Random Map Generator. Players will play 1 round of 15 kills. At the end of the round, players will determine their score, and the player with the highest score is the winner.

Scoring

Last Updated Monday, January 4, 2010 1:27 am

Players will play first to 15 kills, at which point the round will end. The death of a player, even when caused by his own actions (ex. grenade, falling), will result in their opponent receiving an extra point. The easiest way to count the score is to use your opponent's death count as your score.

When submitting a loss, the defeated player will enter the score as total deaths for both players from the round played (including tie breaker round if played), with Player A Deaths = Player B Score.

Tie Breaker

Last Updated Monday, January 4, 2010 1:30 am

If the score is equal for both players at the end of round then a tie breaker round to 5 kills will be played on a the same map. The winner will be determined by the winner of the tie breaker round. Because the server can't be set with a score lower than 15 kills for a tie breaker... players will have to just stop playing when 5 kills are reached.

In the event that the match is still tied due to an accidental death, then a sudden death tiebreaker will take place. Both players will kill themselves to ensure parity in health and ammo, and will then play untill one player kills the other.

x - Server Settings - x

Last Updated Wednesday, December 14, 2011 5:42 pm

The Defender will act as the "Server Master" and shall set the 1v1 Sniper Only match up according to the following settings for both rounds.

Mode: One Man Army
Goal: 15 kills
Players: 1v1
Arms: Sniper Only (note that Melee weapons are permitted for use.)

Join Mid Combat: Off
Friendly Fire: On
Kill Cam: Off
Abilities: Off

Because the match is a 1v1 it has to be set up on a Combat Arms "regular server" to achieve these settings.

Note that the server may need to be set up on the Alpha server depending on the maps chosen and the clearance levels of each player.
